Das Buch \"Jane Eyre\" von Charlotte Bront\u00eb, der \u00e4ltesten der Bront\u00eb-Schwestern, ist ein ber\u00fchmter viktorianischer Roman von 1874. Er erz\u00e4hlt die Geschichte der Waisen Jane Eyre, die dank einer gl\u00fccklichen Wendung und ihrem resoluten Charakter endlich die Chance auf Gl\u00fcck und ein Leben nach ihren eigenen Regeln erlangt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich habe dieses Buch ausgesucht, nachdem ich den Film \"Wuthering Heights\" (Sturmh\u00f6he) nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Emily Bront\u00eb gesehen habe. Ich fand die im Film behandelten Themen spannend und hatte noch nie ein Buch der Bront\u00eb-Schwestern gelesen, deshalb beschloss ich, mit diesem anzufangen (\"Wuthering Heights\" steht auch auf meiner Liste).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das Leben einer Waisen im England des 19. Jahrhunderts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Der Roman beschreibt das Leben der Waisen Jane Eyre, die ihre Eltern verliert und, ohne weiteren Verwandten, die sich um sie k\u00fcmmern k\u00f6nnen, zu ihrer Tante und deren drei Kindern zieht. Diese misshandeln sie und geben ihr stets das Gef\u00fchl, eine schlechte Person zu sein (obwohl sie sich bem\u00fcht, anst\u00e4ndig zu sein). Sie wird an eine M\u00e4dchenschule geschickt, die in so einem schlechten Zustand ist, dass viele der Sch\u00fclerinnen dort sterben. Doch Jane \u00fcberlebt und bekommt durch ihre Ausbildung die M\u00f6glichkeit, Hauslehrerin zu werden. Sie beginnt, f\u00fcr einen Mann und seine Tochter zu arbeiten und verliebt sich in ihn. Als sie entdeckt, dass er bereits verheiratet ist und sie nicht heiraten kann, rennt sie weg und beginnt ein neues Leben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obwohl das Buch im 19. Jahrhundert ver\u00f6ffentlicht wurde, als Frauenrechte nicht das waren, was sie heute sind, und viele Frauen zwischen dem gefangen waren, was \"das Richtige\" war und ihren pers\u00f6nlichen W\u00fcnschen, geht es in dem Roman um universelle Themen wie Liebe und Sehnsucht und der Sinn des Lebens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die K\u00e4mpfe der Frauen im viktorianischen Zeitalter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

W\u00e4hrend die christlichen Aspekte von Janes Leben, wie das Aufwachsen in einer religi\u00f6sen Schule und die Beispiele einiger zutiefst gl\u00e4ubiger Menschen in ihrer Umgebung, wie ihr Cousin John und ihre Kindheitsfreundin Helen, die Jane stark beeindrucken, sowie die Klassenzugeh\u00f6rigkeit in der viktorianischen Zeit vielleicht heute befremdlich erscheinen, so sind doch viele Themen des Romans immer noch aktuell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jane weiss, dass sie Herr Rochester, den sie liebt, aber der bereits verheiratet ist, nicht heiraten kann. Dennoch sagt ihr ihr Herz, dass sie genau das eigentlich m\u00f6chte. Dies schien f\u00fcr mich nachvollziehbar und hat mich ihr und ihrem inneren Ringen mit sich selbst nah gebracht. Insbesondere weil es in der Zeit, in der der Roman spielt, f\u00fcr eine Frau nicht einfach war, ohne einflussreiche Beziehungen oder Verwandte \u00fcber die Runden zu kommen. Sie musste also sicherstellen, dass sie ein Einkommen hatte und sie ihre Position in der Gesellschaft nicht aufs Spiel setzte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horror- und Mystery-Elemente <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Der Roman enth\u00e4lt einige Horror-Elemente, wie die Figur von Herr Rochesters Frau, die wahnsinnig ist und erst wie ein Geist scheint, weil Jane nichts von ihrer Existenz weiss. Das Mystery-Element erscheint zum ersten Mal, als Jane noch ein Kind ist und in einen Raum eingesperrt ist, in dem jemand gestorben ist. Sie kann nicht schlafen und hat das Gef\u00fchl, dass es im Raum spukt. Im Roman erscheinen fantastische Tr\u00e4ume als Omen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jane ist eine Protagonistin, mit der man eine starke Verbindung aufbaut und f\u00fcr die man Mitleid entwickelt, da sie von ihrer b\u00f6swilligen Tante und ihren Cousins misshandelt wird und deren Aufenthalt in einer unhygienischen Institution ihr fast das Leben kostet. Man m\u00f6chte, dass sie Gl\u00fcck findet und versteht dennoch, dass es Teil ihres Charakters ist, eine gute Christin zu sein, zu verzeihen und die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen im Einklang mit den Regeln, die ihr beigebracht wurden und nach denen sie ihr Leben versucht zu leben. Diese stehen allerdings oftmals ihren wahren W\u00fcnschen gegen\u00fcber. Im Allgemeinen ist der Roman eine fesselnde Lekt\u00fcre, die uns moderne Leser zur\u00fcck in die Vergangenheit und die englischen W\u00e4lder versetzt.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
